Nestled in the quiet hamlet of Broughton Beck, on the Cumbria Way footpath and just north of Cycle route 70, Saddleback cottages provide a cosy and peaceful retreat away from the crowds, yet close to Morecambe Bay and many of the iconic towns & villages of the Southern Lake District.

Converted from a 200 year old Cumbrian Bank barn, these beautifully presented and well-equipped cottages retain many of their original features, while providing eco-friendly modern day comfort. From mountain views, to sunsets over Morecambe bay the surrounding landscape is spectacular and offers something for everyone. There is fantastic walking & cycling from the doorstep, and Coniston, Windermere, and the Duddon Valley with their outdoor pursuits and visitor attractions are all within easy reach. On the Southern Peninsulas around Morecambe Bay you will find many nature reserves and beaches and the beautiful villages of Cartmel and Grange over Sands. Just 2.5 miles south, Ulverston offers a wide variety of unique independent shops, cafes pubs & restaurants, and is host to many unique festivals throughout the year, including the cycling festival of Velo Retro in early June. The birthplace of Stan Laurel, and home of the Roxy - a quintessential English cinema - the town provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for visitors. The Stable (sleeps 2) has a lockable bike shed, and we can provide cycle storage in our private grounds for visitors to the Hayloft ( sleeps 4+ 1 infant). We also provide access to an external socket for charging e-bikes.
